About Mission Creek Press

Mission Creek Press is a small private press established in 1996 to publish my own artist’s books and bindings.

In 2004 the studio was moved from the old St. Andrew’s School building, which overlooks Mission Creek, to our new property about two miles away. Still at the foothills of the Blue Mountains, our new location affords amazing views of the high desert plateau landscape and the vast sky above.

While the press was established to publish my own work, I’ve found that working with a small number of commercial clients each year is an important source of inspiration and energy. Each project presents challenges and opportunities and often these new discoveries make their way into my artwork.

Much of my early client work revolved around paper made at the studio using fibers gathered nearby and I still feel a need to create paper on a regular basis, although it’s now made almost exclusively for my own work and rarely for client jobs. I still have images of some of my favorite invitations online here just to share ideas and I’m happy to refer clients to other small studios and artists who do very fine work. I’ve also kept some images of the papermaking process online here for informational purposes.

You can see my most current artist’s books and bindings here and see a full resume here.

You can also get a peek into my studio practice on the December 11, 2008 episode of Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Oregon Art Beat. It’s available to view online at the OPB website.
